Privacy Policy & Data Removal

We believe in full transparency about what data we hold, why we hold it, and how you can exercise your rights.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

1. What Data We Collect

ShopScope collects and indexes publicly available business data about Shopify stores. This includes:

  • Store URLs and domain names (e.g. example.myshopify.com)
  • Store names and branding visible on public storefronts
  • Detected third-party apps and tech stack (inferred from public page source)
  • Primary currency and estimated product catalogue size
  • Estimated traffic and revenue ranges (algorithmically derived — not sourced from payment processors)
  • Date the store was last crawled

We do not collect personal data about individuals, customer data, order data, revenue figures from payment processors, or any data that requires authentication to access.

2. How We Use It

The data is used exclusively to power B2B prospecting and market intelligence for:

  • Helping app vendors identify potential merchant customers
  • Enabling agency and service providers to discover relevant e-commerce businesses
  • Market research and competitive analysis by industry professionals

We do not sell data to third parties, use it for advertising targeting, or share it outside the ShopScope platform.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Our legal basis under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) is legitimate interest. The data we index is deliberately made public by store owners as part of operating a public-facing e-commerce business. Our processing enables the B2B ecosystem around Shopify to function more efficiently and does not override the rights or freedoms of the data subjects (businesses, not individuals).

4. Data Retention

  • Store records are refreshed weekly as part of our regular crawl cycle.
  • Stores that are no longer publicly accessible are automatically removed within 30 days of detection.
  • Stores removed via a data removal request are deleted within 30 days and excluded from future crawls.
  • ShopScope user account data (email, login history) is retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account closure.

5. Your Rights

Under GDPR and equivalent privacy laws you have the right to:

Access

Request a copy of all data we hold about your store.

Deletion

Request permanent removal of your store from our database.

Correction

Request that inaccurate data be corrected or updated.

Objection

Restriction

To exercise any of these rights, use the removal form below or email us directly. We will respond within 30 days.

6. GDPR Compliance

ShopScope is committed to compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the UK GDPR. We do not transfer personal data outside the EEA without appropriate safeguards. We maintain a record of processing activities as required by Article 30 GDPR. If you believe we have breached your rights you have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK or your national DPA in the EU).
